Drawing on their own experiences as late-diagnosed neurodivergent women, the three reflect on what they have stopped forcing, including rigid productivity schedules, performative consistency, and traditional business structures that were never designed with them in mind. They share how unlearning the shame tied to their unique working styles has become the foundation for building something genuinely aligned, and why that internal clarity has to come before any external strategy.

The conversation weaves together the complementary nature of all three of their businesses, forming what they call an “accidental ecosystem.” Mel works with individuals to understand who they are at their core; Courtney helps them translate that into aligned branding and go-to-market strategy; and Sandra helps them scale and teach what they know. Together, they make the case that ethical, people-first business building is not just a feel-good concept but a necessary alternative to systems that are, as Courtney puts it, “toxic and crumbling.” The episode closes with a collective rallying cry to stop explaining yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you, and to start building with people who genuinely see you.

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where in your work or life are you still forcing yourself into a structure that was built for someone else entirely, and what would it look like to design around how you actually operate?

Are the people around you challenging you back to yourself, or are they challenging you into compliance?

Links to our businesses mentioned in the episode:

Sandra - BeLearning @ https://belearning.center/

Courtney - Chief Troublemaker Company @ https://chieftroublemaker.co/

Mel - This Is What’s Next @ https://thisiswhatsnext.com/

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-12

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter here on Substack, where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

We Are Tired AF
A collective of three women from different backgrounds — tired, loud, and building new systems because we’re too damn exhausted to keep trying to fix the old ones.

Send your questions and comments for Tired AF to Hello@WeAreTiredAF.com

*************

You can find us any time you want to connect at Tired AF: https://bio.site/wearetiredaf

Tired of Fitting Into the Box: Why Obedience Isn't Success

Episode 11

We Are Tired AF

In this episode of Tired AF, Mel, Sandra & Courtney unpack the myth of “the box” — the rigid, unspoken rules that define success, professionalism, and productivity in society. Through personal stories across corporate, academic, and creative spaces, they expose how these systems reward obedience over creativity and punish those who think differently. The conversation highlights how women, especially neurodivergent women, are often conditioned to believe they are the problem when they don’t fit, leading to cycles of guilt, shame, and self-doubt.

As the discussion deepens, the hosts challenge the legitimacy of these systems, calling out capitalism, patriarchy, and institutional power structures that benefit from conformity while excluding those who don’t comply. They explore what happens when that illusion begins to collapse and why reclaiming personal authority is no longer optional, but necessary. The episode ultimately reframes not fitting in as a form of clarity and power, inviting listeners to question the rules they’ve been following and consider what it means to build a life outside the box.

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where in your life are you still trying to “earn” your place in a system that was never designed for you?

What would change if you stopped trying to fit the box… and started trusting how you naturally operate instead?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-11

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter here on Substack, where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

We Are Tired AF
A collective of three women from different backgrounds — tired, loud, and building new systems because we’re too damn exhausted to keep trying to fix the old ones.

Send your questions and comments for Tired AF to Hello@WeAreTiredAF.com

*************

You can find us any time you want to connect at Tired AF: https://bio.site/wearetiredaf

Why Neurospicy Women Work Differently

Episode 10

We Are Tired AF

In this episode of Tired AF, Mel, Courtney, and Sandra pull back the curtain on how neurodivergent women can work together in ways that traditional workplaces rarely allow. Instead of forcing themselves into rigid workplace expectations, they’ve built a collaborative dynamic where each person’s natural strengths are not only accepted but intentionally centered.

The conversation highlights how their partnership works in practice. Courtney brings visionary thinking and big-picture ideas, Sandra excels at systems and breaking complex ideas into actionable steps, and Mel acts as the architect who connects strategy, community, and execution. Women get labeled “emotional,” “unlikable,” or “bossy” in performance reviews and workplaces, while men’s volatility gets excused as authority or “passion.” Courtney backs it with data and names the trap clearly: there’s no magical “right way” to be a woman in power, because the rules shift to keep women wrong.

They widen the lens to politics and culture, naming how unregulated male emotion turns into harm, cruelty, and even policy decisions. Through historical context, lived experience, and unapologetic analysis, the conversation traces how patriarchy, white supremacy, capitalism, and state violence are deeply intertwined. From the founding of the United States to modern policing, including ICE, the hosts dismantle the myth that this violence is accidental or new. It is systemic, it is profitable, and it has been normalized for generations.

They emphasize this is not about hating men, but about naming a system that dehumanizes everyone and trains women to live on constant alert. Through personal stories, cultural examples, and hard truths, they call out how silence and distraction protect abusers, while accountability and collective refusal are the only way things change.

Notable mentions from the episode:

Andrea Dworkin’s 1983 speech delivered to the Midwest Regional Conference of the National Organization for Changing Men in St. Paul, MN - titled, “I Want a 24Hour Truce During Which There is No Rape.”

Mel’s new Spiritual safe-space: Shine Sanctuary

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where have I been taught to normalize, excuse, or minimize violence because it is “just the way things are,” and what would it look like to stop doing that?

In my own life, where am I being asked to manage someone else’s comfort at the expense of my safety, truth, or humanity, and what would change if I refused?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-7

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter on Substack where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

Self-Care Isn’t Bubble Baths (It’s Actual Work)

Podcast Episode 6

We Are Tired AF

In Episode 6 of Tired AF, Mel, Courtney, and Sandra dismantle the fluffy self-care myth and get real about what healing actually requires. They talk about self-care as maintenance and reconnection, not escapism, and they challenge the idea that anyone is “broken.” Healing, they argue, is the work of unearthing the parts of yourself you had to bury to survive and building a life you do not need to escape from.

They also name the systems that make this harder, from capitalism to corporate culture to the way women are trained to care for everyone else first. The conversation moves through shame, late diagnosis and neurodivergence, and the reality that healing is not linear, it is cyclical and ongoing. They close with practical encouragement: progress happens in small steps, the right support matters, and community makes the work feel possible.

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where have I been treating healing like a checklist or a quick fix, and what would it look like to practice it as ongoing maintenance instead?

What is one signal my body or emotions keep sending that I’ve been dismissing, minimizing, or medicating instead of listening to?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-6

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter on Substack where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

Patriarchy Keeps Rewarding Incompetence

We Are Tired AF Podcast, Ep-5

We Are Tired AF

The hosts come in hot about how patriarchy and white supremacy keep rewarding incompetence at the top while everyone else lives with the fallout. They unpack patriarchy as a systemic machine, not “men being trash,” and call out how it harms all genders while still centering a narrow version of powerful, wealthy, usually white masculinity. They dig into how media, education, and propaganda shape what we see as “normal,” who we think deserves power, and even what history we’re allowed to know, making it harder for people to question the system or see beyond it.

They also talk about survival, nervous system regulation, and capacity in a world that will never fully calm down. The hosts name the privilege of having done their own healing work, acknowledge that not everyone has the safety or bandwidth to push as hard, and stress that courage has to be grounded in each person’s reality. They point to independent media, women-led consulting collectives, and everyday acts of resistance as “parallel systems” already growing at the edges of the mainstream. The episode lands on this: the big broken systems are not disappearing anytime soon, but each of us can choose how we see, question, and participate in them.

Independent media outlets mentioned in this episode:

Substack

The 1440

Patreon

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where in your own life have you accepted “that’s just how it is” without realizing it might actually be patriarchy, propaganda, or conditioning talking?

What is one small, concrete way you can regulate your own nervous system and then use that steadiness to question, resist, or step outside a system that benefits from you staying silent?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-5

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter here on Substack where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

Women Are Sensing the Shift Before There’s Language for It

We all know the system is breaking... but what’s breaking women is being forced to live like it isn’t.

Courtney Broderick

By the end of 2025, no one paying attention needs to be convinced that things are bad. Integration Is.

Most folks listening to this podcast are informed. They read the news. They talk to each other. They notice patterns. They know we’re sliding in a dangerous direction politically. They know the economy is tightening in ways that don’t show up cleanly in official narratives.

The problem is that awareness doesn’t come with permission.

There’s no sanctioned way to fully integrate what you KNOW into how you’re allowed to live. You still have to show up to work. Still pay rent or a mortgage. Still think about healthcare. Raise your kids. Decide whether to stay, leave, speak up, or just keep your head down.

Women, in particular, often end up holding two realities at once:

“I know what’s happening.”

AND

“I still have to act like it’s not.”

That split is exhausting.

Share

This Isn’t Just Political. It’s Economic.

A lot of what’s happening to women right now gets framed as “culture” or “politics.”
That framing is convenient. It keeps the real issue blurry.

What’s actually happening is economic.

In 2025 alone, hundreds of thousands of women have been pushed out of paid work in the U.S. Not because they suddenly became unqualified. Not because they stopped trying. Because layoffs, role eliminations, hiring freezes, and quiet performance cuts hit the roles women disproportionately occupy.

Middle management. Operations. Program leadership. People work. Coordination work. The jobs that hold everything together but are labeled “non-essential” the second costs tighten.

Private-sector data has been showing this all year. Workforce participation for women has slipped while companies publicly claim “stability.” Job cuts are being rolled out as restructures and “efficiency,” which means they don’t always show up in dramatic headlines. But they show up in women’s lives.

Lost income. Lost benefits. Lost leverage.

And here’s the part we’re not supposed to say out loud.

When women lose economic footing, everything else becomes easier to take from us.

Healthcare access. Reproductive autonomy. The ability to leave unsafe situations. The ability to say no at work. The ability to age with any sense of security.

That’s not accidental. It’s structural.

You don’t have to believe in a single conspiracy to see the pattern.
You just have to notice who absorbs the shock first when systems contract.

Women are being told this is about “hard choices” and “market conditions,” while policy decisions actively make it harder to survive without a stable employer. When benefits, healthcare, and safety are tied to jobs that are disappearing, economic pressure becomes a control mechanism.

That’s why this moment feels different.

It’s not just that jobs are less stable.
It’s that independence itself is being made more fragile.

So when women talk about being tired, angry, frozen, or quietly recalculating their futures, that’s not confusion. That’s realism.

This isn’t about being dramatic. It’s about recognizing that the ability to take care of ourselves is under direct pressure. Economically first, and everything else second.

So when women feel constantly braced, it’s not anxiety. It’s math.

Why This Feels So Hard to Talk About

There’s another layer that doesn’t get named often enough.

Admitting how unstable things feel comes with social consequences. You get labeled dramatic. Alarmist. Too political. Too negative. Too online. Too much.

So a lot of women keep it to themselves.

They don’t say how hard it is to plan. They don’t say how fake “five-year goals” feel. They don’t say how much energy it takes to pretend they believe in systems that keep proving they won’t protect them.

Instead, that pressure turns inward. It shows up as exhaustion, irritability, numbness, or the sense that something is wrong with you personally.

It isn’t.

You’re reacting appropriately to an environment that demands denial.

Subscribe now

This Is Why We’re Talking About It Here

This is part of why Tired As Fuck exists.

Not because we think we have all the answers. Not because we believe talking fixes everything. But because living inside this contradiction alone is corrosive.

When there’s no shared language for what’s happening, people start blaming themselves for struggling with it. They assume they should be handling it better. They assume everyone else has figured out how to live normally inside abnormal conditions.

They haven’t. They’re just quieter about the cost.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

What This Space Is Actually For

This isn’t a place to pretend things are fine. It’s not a place to rush people toward solutions or optimism. It’s a place where the reality you’re already living inside can be spoken without being minimized.

Starting in January, we’ll be releasing regular episodes every other week. Some will be sharp. Some will be heavy. Some will be hysterical. Some will be uncomfortable. All of them will start from the same premise: we’re not going to gaslight ourselves about the moment we’re in.

You don’t need to be convinced that something is wrong. You don’t need to be told to pay attention. You already are.

If you feel worn down, watchful, angry, or stuck between knowing too much and being able to do too little, that doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re living honestly inside a system that keeps asking you not to. story intros,” Sandra’s origin episode follows her path from “too much” smart girl in a tiny Texas town to fully claimed crone. She shares what it was like to grow up autistic, bisexual, and deeply curious in a community that labeled her weirdness as wrong, punished her for asking questions, and treated her interests as dangerous. College fed her mind, but real belonging did not click until she found fellow “weirdos”, where her love of stories, strategy, and depth finally matched the room. Teaching, writing, and helping others understand complex ideas became her way of turning that lifelong outsider status into a superpower.

She then traces her time in academia and corporate tech, where her integrity and blunt clarity kept colliding with systems that prized compliance over truth. From being praised as the “best boss” by her teams and dismissed by executives, to being told to soften what is celebrated in men, Sandra names the moral injury of staying in spaces that demand you betray yourself. Now in her crone era, she claims her role as the wise woman who refuses to play small and urges listeners to protect their weirdness, listen to their bodies, and stand with those resisting injustice.

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where are you still playing small or hiding your “weirdness” to make other people comfortable?

What signals is your body sending about work, relationships, or systems that feel morally off?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-4

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter on Substack, where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

Unapologetic & Un-Gaslit: Courtney’s Origin Story

Tired AF Podcast, Ep-3

We Are Tired AF

This episode turns the spotlight on Courtney as she traces the path from a picture-perfect childhood to the moment everything unraveled with the loss of her brother. She shares how grief, undiagnosed neurodivergence, and years of surviving without support shaped her into someone who overperformed for everyone else while abandoning herself.

Her move into Silicon Valley sales only amplified the harm. Gaslighting from bosses, medical dismissal, and a culture obsessed with profit pushed her to believe she was the problem until deeper therapy finally revealed the truth: it wasn’t her, it was the systems.

From there, the story shifts into her rebuild. Courtney talks about reclaiming her voice, learning to recognize her anger as power, and rebuilding community in a way that feels safe and aligned. By the end, she makes it clear why she said yes to creating Tired As Fuck: she’s here to un-gaslight women, burn down the bullshit, and help others step into their own authority with clarity and fire.

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where have you been carrying shame that was never yours to hold?

What kind of community do you actually need, not the one you were told to accept?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-3

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter on Substack, where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

Becoming the Main Character in a World That Tried to Make Me Background Noise

A story about choosing myself.

We Are Tired AF

There are parts of my story that I used to tuck away like contraband. Outsiders aren’t broken. We’re forged.

In that episode, I walked you through the long, winding path from the kid who never fit the mold to the grown woman who finally said, Enough. I’m done auditioning for a story I don’t even want to be in.

And the moment I stopped begging for permission was the moment I became the main character of my own life.

The Myth That Kept Me Small

For years, I believed the same myth so many of us swallow whole: that if we just follow the rules, do the right things, and stay in line, life will reward us with belonging.

But belonging built on self-abandonment is a trap. It drains your nervous system, chips away at your confidence, and turns your intuition into background noise.

In the episode, I talk about how long I lived in that trap. How hard I tried to contort myself into the version of womanhood I thought I was supposed to be. And how every time I twisted myself up to fit someone else’s expectations, I lost a little more of my spark.

Eventually, my body broke the silence before my voice did. Nervous system on overdrive. Constant tension. That quiet, relentless exhaustion that whispers, You’re not living your life. You’re performing it.

The Break Isn’t the End. It’s the Beginning.

What saved me wasn’t a perfect plan. It was a moment of truth.

A voice inside me, small but unmistakable, saying: You don’t have to live like this.

That’s the heartbeat of the work I do now. I help women hear that voice again. The one buried under years of rules, shame, expectations, and self-doubt. The one that already knows the next step even when your mind is spiraling.

Your Nervous System Is Your First Oracle

One of the biggest breakthroughs in my own story was realizing that my nervous system had been trying to guide me the entire time. I just wasn’t listening.

When your chest tightens or your stomach drops or your jaw locks, that isn’t weakness. It’s information.

It’s your body saying, This isn’t alignment. This isn’t truth.

And when your shoulders soften or your breath deepens or your whole being feels just one shade lighter, that’s a yes!

This is why nervous system literacy sits at the center of everything I teach. Self-trust doesn’t come from forcing yourself to be confident. It comes from finally listening to the signals your body has been sending you for years.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" She opens up about growing up mixed race, navigating poverty, loneliness, and early trauma, and slowly learning to trust herself enough to step into spaces where she could finally feel seen. Her path through queer identity, chosen family, and spiritual exploration reveals how a lifetime of searching shaped the way she builds connection today.

The conversation reflects on personal growth and the relationships that transformed her life. Mel shares how community became the antidote to shame, how advocacy work sharpened her understanding of systems, and why honest, supportive relationships are essential for healing. By the end, listeners get a clear picture of her mission: creating spaces where women can show up whole, connect deeply, and grow into the strongest version of themselves.

“Things” to Think About From This Episode:

Where have you felt out of place in your personal story?

How have you created “family” for yourself?

Download the full transcript here: https://tinyurl.com/tiredaf-s1-ep-2

Make sure to Join the Rebellion newsletter here on Substack, where we keep the conversation going and offer new insights into reclaiming our power in this crazy world.

We Are Tired AF
A collective of three women from different backgrounds — tired, loud, and building new systems because we’re too damn exhausted to keep trying to fix the old ones.

Send your questions and comments for Tired AF to Hello@WeAreTiredAF.com

*************

You can find us any time you want to connect at Tired AF: https://bio.site/wearetiredaf

The Corporate Trauma So Many Late-Diagnosed Neurodivergent Women Quietly Carry

When you realize your story isn’t actually unique, there are equal parts relief + rage

Courtney Broderick

Ever since we started recording the podcast, I’ve been paying closer attention to how often late-diagnosed neurodivergent women tell the same workplace stories. We were the ones who smoothed the room over. We rephrased things so no one would “misread” us. We adjusted our tone, softened our instincts, and carried the weight of everyone else’s reactions.

At the time, most of us didn’t even see it as emotional labor. It felt like “being professional” or “not making things harder.”

But the truth is, we were doing extra work that made everyone else more comfortable. Work that went completely unacknowledged.

And because so many of us were undiagnosed, masking, or still trying to fit the mold, we assumed every bit of tension was ours to fix.

The projection we mistook for useful feedback

Something the three of us return to often (and talked about openly on the pod) is how frequently our clarity was treated as confrontation. How questions were read as challenges. How directness was framed as defiance.

And how often men in leadership confidently informed us of our own “real motives,” even when they were wildly off base. I can look back now and see it for what it was: projection.

Their discomfort.
Their insecurity.
Their unreadiness to work with women who weren’t performing smallness.

But at the time? A lot of us believed them.

We took their interpretations as truth and absorbed their reactions as our responsibility.

It’s painful to realize how much of our identity was shaped by other people misreading us, and how long it took to trust our own instincts again (or for the first time).

Share

Why Tired As Fuck exists

The three of us didn’t come together to build some polished “leadership resource.” We created Tired As Fuck because we needed a space where women like us could finally stop contorting ourselves around other people’s fragility.

Our friendship (and now the podcast) was built on a foundation of zero ego. We don’t take each other’s clarity personally. We don’t assume malice where there is none. We don’t collapse when someone speaks directly or emotionally or honestly.

We built the thing we never had in corporate — a space where our full selves aren’t treated like a threat.

And we made the podcast a little voyeuristic on purpose. We want you to see what it looks like when women stop translating themselves for the comfort of others.
